Marcel Alyre Croteau

Marcel Alyre Croteau passed away February 3rd in Tallahassee after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on November 13, 1926, in Hartford, CT to Emile and Annette Croteau. Marcel attended Hartford High School and served in the U.S.
in WWII as a gunnery instructor. He was married to Florence Dorothy Tofil for 62 years until her death in 2009.
Marcel worked as a Hartford police officer and moved to Miami in 1956.
He was partner and later owner of Spiegel Meats. He was pre-deceased by his parents, sister Rita, and brother Roger. He is survived by a sister, Yvette Messier, three sons, James (Theresa), Edmond (Clara), and Michael (Lily), seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He belonged to Miami Elks 948 and Moose lodges.
He was a faithful Catholic, a loving husband, a devoted father, a tireless worker, and a great friend to those who knew him. The viewing will be at Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South, 11655 SW 117 Ave., Miami, FL, 33186 on Friday February 7 at 6:30 PM to 8 PM with a funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle, 7377 SW 64 St., Miami, FL, 33163 on Saturday February 8th at 10 AM. Donations may be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Croteau Endowment at Elder Care Services, 2518 W Tennessee Street, Tallahassee, FL, 32304.
