Mary E. Kaveney

Mary E. Kaveney, 91, died peacefully on July 20, 2014 of natural causes at her home at Westminster Oaks in Tallahassee. She was born on October 4, 1922 in Reading, PA to James R., Jr. and Ruth Hoverter Werts of Reading, PA. She is survived by daughters Cynthia Gaulin of San Luis Obispo CA and Deborah Kearney (Jim) of Tallahassee. She is also survived by grandchildren Suzanne Lambert (Albert) of Gilroy, CA and Claire Gaulin (John Merriam) of San Luis Obispo, CA, as well as great-grandchildren Sylvia Lambert, Rene Lambert, Tobin Merriam, and Piper Merriam. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Charles A. Kaveney.

Mary is a graduate of Penn State University (BA) and Villanova University (MLS) and retired as the librarian of Phoenixville High School, PA. She was an elder in the Prebyterian Church and most recently has been a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee. She served many years as a docent at the Amelia Island Museum of History. Mary will be remembered fondly for the many beautiful quilts that she made for her family, charitable organizations, friends, and her church family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday July 23 at Lafayette Presbyterian Church, 4220 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee. Interment will take place in Reading, PA at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Lafayette Presbyterian Church, or the .
