Norabelle Cook Grey (Cookie)

Norabelle Cook Grey (Cookie), 90, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, September 12th, at Camellia Gardens in Thomasville, Georgia. Mrs. Grey was born in 1922 to the late Marion and Mable Cook of Summerford, Ohio. She received a nursing degree from Ohio State University.
During World War II, she was stationed in the Philippines, where she served in the military as a Field Operating Room Nurse.
While living in Albany, Georgia, she was employed as a nurse at Phoebe Putney Hospital where she later developed the Hospital In-service Department, which was established to educate and train new nurses in hospital procedures and use of new equipment. Mrs. Grey retired from Phoebe Putney Hospital. After her retirement, she was a volunteer nurse with Hospice.
Nora was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her two children, Walter F. Grey Jr. (Joy) of Thomasville, Georgia, and a Tracy Ann Grey (Alison) of Tallahassee, Florida. She is survived by four grandchildren, Chris Grey (Adrienne) of Acworth, GA, Kevin Ethridge of Thomasville, GA, Trey Thomas (Sofi) of Orlando, FL, and Lauren Thomas (Frank) of Kansas City, Mo. She is also survived by her great-granddaughter, Faren Lillie James.
Mrs. Grey was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister, and her husband, Walter Forrest Grey Sr., who was a retired Air Force military pilot. A private family service will be held, and her ashes will be interred in Albany, Georgia with her late husband.
