Richard Morgan Lee

Richard Morgan Lee, 85, died Saturday, November 30, 2013. He was a retired banker following more than 30 years with Capital City Bank. A native of Americus Georgia, he was named a football High School All American and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Georgia on a football scholarship. Playing on Georgia's 1946 undefeated team and going on to a win in the Sugar Bowl was a treasured memory of his life. Travel to unique and wonderful places with his grandchildren were also treasured memories for him and the grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, daughter Newell Croy Walls (John) and son George Martin Croy (Venetia). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Richard Lee Walls, Newell Elizabeth Walls, Martin Anders Croy, Jennifer Walls Cagle (Jamie), Brian A. Walls (Julia) and 4 great-granddaughters. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 4th from 4-7 pm at Culleys Funeral Home on Riggins Road, Tallahassee, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a . A private family service will be held.

Richard was a member of the University of Georgia Lettermen's Club, the Exchange Club of Tallahassee, the Colonels Club of Tallahassee, the Cotillion Club of Tallahassee and "Wally's Boys" a group of UGA football players who played for the great Georgia Coach, Wally Butts.

He was predeceased by his wife, Newell Martin Lee, in 2002. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Ryals E. Lee, Sr., Edwin Ervin Lee, Jr. and Paul Winston (Wink) Lee, two beloved nieces and a nephew, Jensi Lee McDavid, Linda Lee Harvey and Howard Blake Lee.
