Mr. Steve C. Walker, Jr. (1932-2014)

Mr. Steve C. Walker, Jr., retired Jefferson County Property Appraiser and Farmer, died at his home on April 23, 2014

Visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home on April 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00.

Funeral services will be held April 26, 2014, at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church, 325 Washington Street, Monticello, Fl followed by an interment to Roseland Cemetery.

Mr. Walker was the son of Steve C. and Donia Clark Walker. He was born at his home and lived most of his life in Monticello, Fl. He graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1950.

He attended Florida State University prior to enlisting in the Army during the Korean War.
After his service in the Army, he attended the University of Florida.
He graduated with High Honors with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
Mr. Walker's love of farming led him to work at Okapilco Plantation in Pavo, Ga. After a few years, he returned to Monticello to follow in his Father's footsteps to become the Jefferson County Property Appraiser for 32 years. He also farmed and had a love for growing watermelons.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed traveling to football games, visiting places he had never been before, cooking out, and hunting with his beloved bird dogs. He did all this with his wide array of friends who ranged from infant to 100.
Mr. Walker was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Monticello where he served as Sunday School Superintendent.

He belonged to the Kiwanis Club and Property Appraiser's Association. He was head of the Booster's Club for Aucilla Christian Academy.

He is survived by his son Steve C. Walker, III, daughter Cynthia Walker, and dear friend Sharon Heber. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Miriam Walker.
