Ward Fickie, 94, of Colorado Springs, CO, died on April 30, 2014. Born on May 25, 1919, in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late Edward and Myrtle (née Ward) Fickie.
Ward served in the Navy during WWII. He married Margaret Grolton Stumpe on Aug. 3, 1943. He is survived by their three children: Gretchen Thomas (John) of Colorado Springs, CO; Mark Fickie (Shirley) of Palm Coast, FL; and Nell Stranburg (Marshall) of Tallahassee, FL. He had five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He graduated from University of Illinois and earned his LL.B. from Columbia University. Ward practiced law in St. Louis, MO, with Biggs, Hensely, Curtis and Biggs and later Biggs, Fickie, and Dwyer. After Margaret passed in 1987, he married Genevieve Zell and resided in St. Louis until her death in 2005, at which time he moved to Colorado Springs.
