Yaw Akuoko, Esquire

Attorney Yaw Akuoko passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2012. He was 47. Mr. Akuoko practiced law for 11 years in Florida and Georgia. Mr. Akuoko specialized in immigration law and commercial litigation. Mr. Akuoko was born in Kumasi, Ghana and was of the Ashanti heritage in West Africa. Mr. Akuoko graduated from the prestigious Opoku Ware Boys Secondary School in Kumasi, and moved to the United States in the Fall of 1986.
Mr. Akuoko enrolled at Dickenson College (Carlisle, PA), where he studied the Classics. Mr. Akuoko later transferred to and graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Economics. Mr. Akuoko subsequently received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Mr. Akuoko was admitted to practice law in several jurisdictions, including all jurisdictions in Florida courts. Mr. Akuoko was also admitted to practice before Federal District Courts in the Western District of Wisconsin and Northern District of Florida. Mr. Akuoko was also admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
Mr. Akuoko was also legal counsel to several organizations, including the Opoku Ware Old Boys Association, the United States branch of his secondary school alumni association. Until his death, Mr. Akuoko served as legal counsel and corporate secretary to Bcgneeds. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Bedell, and his beloved 5-year-old son, Karl Akuoko, both parents, siblings, uncles, aunts, nephews, cousins, and countless number of friends.

Visitation is from 6-10:00pm. Memorial Service - Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Faith Presbyterian Church located at 2200 North Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303 (850-385-6151). Service begins at 4pm followed by a reception in the church's fellowship hall.
