Worcester - John Michael Maloney, 84, died peacefully at his home in Worcester on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
His parents, Francis and Dora (Berthiaume) Maloney predeceased him. He graduated from North High School in 1947 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1948 serving two years and was recalled during the Korean War in 1950 after attending Leicester College. Following his Marine service, he attended the University of Texas in Austin. He was employed by Chrysler Motor Co. as a district manager and by Ford Motor Company before becoming general manager and distributor of New England of Triumph Automobile. He was later appointed General Manager and President of Triumph Motors for all of the southern and southwestern United States. After retiring from the automotive world, he became a manufactures representative for several companies traveling all over the United States.
John is survived by his two daughters, Jeanne Martin of Kingston, NH and Susan Silva of Sandown, NH; three grandchildren, Jonathan Silva, Kaylee Silva and Walker Martin, a brother, Judge Frank Maloney of Austin, TX; a niece, Catharine of Wilmington, DE and a nephew, Captain Edward Maloney USA stationed at Fort Campbell, KY. John was liked by all and active in various help organizations. He devoted his time and efforts towards helping those who were infirm and in need. He will be missed by all.
His family would like to thank his Doctors and Nurses at St. Vincent Hospital and at the University of Massachusetts Hospital for their care and the wonderful people at Hospice for their kindness and help.
A Committal Service will be held Saturday, May 24 at 11:00 AM in Notre Dame Mausoleum, 162 Webster St. Arrangements in the care of CALLAHAN, FAY & CASWELL Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. is handling arrangements.
