Born, August 12, 1925 in Reidsville, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Monday, January 13, 2014 surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Albert P. (Ike) Isenhour, Jr., her devoted children, Patricia Swift (Bob), Lilburn, Georgia, David Stoutt Isenhour (Priscilla), Nashville, Thomas K. Isenhour (Daria) of Middletown, New Jersey and Ashley Edwards (Billy) Austin, Texas. Ten adored Grandchildren: Michael Wesley Swift (Lynzee) of Atlanta, Georgia James Andrew Swift, Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas Scott Isenhour (Lauren), New York City, Sara Anne Isenhour, Austin, Texas, Anne Bailey Edwards, Brooklyn, New York , Adelaide Ames Edwards, Austin, Texas Patricia Pinckney Swift, Lilburn, Georgia, William Thomas Edwards, Jr., Austin, Texas, Albert Pinckney Isenhour, III, and Nicholas Brennan Isenhour, Middletown, New Jersey.
Survivors also include brother Frederick Lee Blank Jr. Greeley, Colorado and nieces and nephews: Lisa Blank, Leslie Conway (Howard) Frederick Lee Blank III (Melanie), John Fletcher Blank, St. Louis, Margaret Lawrence Cook (Charles), Nashville, Raleigh Anne Blank, San Francisco.
A devoted, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, the joy of her life was being with her family at home or in travel.
She moved with family to Nashville in 1945 after her sophomore year at the Woman's College of The University of North Carolina. She attended Vanderbilt University with the class of '48, transferring her credits back to Woman's College to obtain her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature.
In 1949 she married her best friend and husband of 64 plus years at West End United Methodist Church by Reverend Jimmy Henley.
Afterwards she joined her husband in New York where he was serving a Surgical Residency at The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center. They returned to Nashville in 1955 with their daughter and two sons. Their youngest daughter was born after their return.
Worshipping at West End United Methodist Church for over 69 years, she enjoyed serving as President of the Kindergarten Board before it became a Day Care, teaching Sunday school in the Elementary Dept and Senior Dept. for many years, and serving as Altar Guild Chair under two ministers.
She was a dedicated volunteer in the community including leadership roles in her children's schools, President of Davidson County Medical Alliance, United Way Initial Gifts Chair, the board of YWCA and on the Senior Board of Florence Crittenton Home. She enjoyed membership in The Study Club and The Centennial Club as well as volunteering at Nashville Literacy Council
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Adelaide McCollum Blank and father Frederick Lee Blank and brother, Edward Clarence Blank II
Family and friends will gather on Friday, January 17 at 1:15 in Reed Hall at West End United Methodist Church followed by a memorial Service at 2:00.
Honorary Pallbearers: Grandsons: Michael Wesley Swift, James Andrew Swift, Thomas Scott Isenhour, William Thomas Edwards, Jr., Albert Pinckney Isenhour, III, and Nicholas Brennan Isenhour.
Nephews: Frederick Lee Blank III, John Fletcher Blank, and Charles Wilkerson Cook III.
