Mr. Clyde Dorris Lynch, Sr.

College Grove, TN

Mr. Clyde Dorris Lynch, Sr., aged 84, passed away February 21, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Lynch was a longtime farmer and retired county commissioner. Clyde grew up in the Millview community working on a farm with his father. He was athletic and participated in every sport while in high school. After graduation, he joined the United States Navy where he served two years.

Mr. Lynch returned to Franklin and married his high school sweetheart, Louise Gillespie, and they purchased a farm in Cool Springs, where they raised cattle, hay, tobacco, grain, and strawberries. Through his hard work, Mr. Lynch became a very successful farmer. He was voted Farmer of the Year and served as President of the Williamson County Farmer's Co-op.

Mr. Lynch served as a county commissioner for 37 years, and he was Budget Chairman much of that time. On the commission, he was well known for his mathematical skills and ability to recall facts and figures. Clyde was fiscally conservative before it was the popular thing, and through his perseverance, he helped shape the County into what it is today. Clyde served for 20 years on the Williamson Medical Center Board of Directors and helped select the site where it was built. He was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow from the Franklin Noon Rotary Club. He was selected as Citizen of the Year by Civitan International, recognized as a friend of 4-H, and honored by the Franklin Chamber of Commerce.
