David Peter Anderson

Gallatin, TN

Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2014 at age 94.

He was born in Norfolk, VA on November 4, 1919 and grew up in Cincinnati, OH. After his education at the University of Cincinnati's College of Music, he served in the United States Army during World War II as a sergeant and bandsman in Trinidad. Following his military service, Mr. Anderson worked as a food manufacturer representative and broker in Nashville. He was also an elder in his church for many years, and was active in various youth sports groups in Hendersonville.

Mr. Anderson was an accomplished musician, most frequently playing the trombone. He was active in performing music for more than seven decades, beginning in 1935, playing in a number of musical groups in Cincinnati, including his own dance band. He will be remembered in Nashville for his long-term membership in Radio Daze Big Band, as well as various other groups and ensembles, including the Moonlighters, the American Legion Band, and his own Dixieland Express.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Geneva Earheart Anderson; four daughters, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday evening, June 27, 2014 at 6 p.m., at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, at 182 West Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075 with visitation 1 hr. prior. Reverend Johnny Hayes and Reverend Dr. George McDowell will officiate.
