Edwina Fisher PHELPS Obituary

PHELPS, Edwina Fisher - Age 88 of Brentwood. October 4, 2013. Daughter of the late Dr. James E. and Vinnie Reynolds Fisher. Born December 15, 1924 in Rome, TN. She married Ira B. Phelps and he preceded her in death on February 16, 2000. Also preceded in death by sisters, Mara Purnell and Rebekah Hudson. Graduated from Smith County High School and the TN College of Women. She received her Masters Degree from the Peabody School for Teachers, and taught at Woodmont Elementary in Nashville. Member of the Travelers Rest DAR Chapter and attended Glen Leven Presbyterian Church. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lydia (Scott) Smith of Brentwood, TN; grandchildren, Ashleigh and Lynae Smith of Brentwood, TN; step-son, Mike Overton of Dayton, TN and step-granddaughter, Katelyn Overton. Cousin, Vivian Reynolds of Rome, TN also survives. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 11, 2013 at Glen Leven Presbyterian Church, at 10:30 a.m., with Dr. Mark Bryan officiating. Visitation Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Parlor at the church. Graveside services and Interment on Friday at 1 p.m., at the Ridgewood Cemetery, 3rd Avenue East, Carthage, TN 37030. Donations may be made to the Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN, 37203; or the Glen Leven Presbyterian Church, 3906 Franklin Rd., Nashville, TN 37204.
