HOOPER, Everett Powell Age 92, was born March 20, 1920 and passed away November 27, 2012 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, TN from complications of Alzheimer's. Everett was a gentle, kind, and loving man who loved God and his family. Our loss is Heaven's gain! He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 yrs., Virginia Nichols Hooper; parents, Jesse and Nellie Hooper; brothers, Delbert Watson Hooper & Shirley Davis Hooper, and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hooper. Survivors include daughter, Donna G. Youree and son-in-law, Joe. C. Youree; granddaughter, Elizabeth Rigsby Prohaska; grandson, Chris Rigsby & wife Kristin, and granddaughter, Tami Spoll & husband Alan. Great-grandchildren include Benjamin & Jayne Prohaska, Kathryn, Matthew & Andrew Rigsby, and Jessica, Samantha & Henry Spoll. He is also survived by two nieces, Shirlene Leath & husband Houser, and Bettye Denton; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rhodes and Martha N. Moore, and numerous nieces and nephews, all from Henderson, KY. Everett served in the Army in the 92nd Bomb Group during WWII as a medic stationed in England and France. It was during this experience that he accepted the call to preach, and was ordained to the ministry on December 18, 1949 at Geneva Baptist Church in Geneva, KY. Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy in Seymour, TN was very important to both Everett and Virginia, where they moved in 1947 with their four-month-old daughter for Everett to complete his high school education using the GI Bill after the war. He then continued his education at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN and Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, TN. Everett served as a pastor for 41 years in churches throughout Tennessee and Kentucky. He was the former pastor of Rosedale Baptist Church in Nashville from 1968-1990. While pastor of Rosedale, Everett was an active member of the Nashville Baptist Association, serving as moderator for 2 yrs., and the Pastor's Conference of Nashville, where he served as president and secretary. He also pastored the following churches, Boiling Springs Baptist in Baxter, TN, Northside Baptist in McMinnville, TN, Caney Fork Baptist in Cookeville, TN and Mt. Pleasant Baptist in Smith Mills, KY. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, November 30th from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and on Saturday, December 1st from 12 - 1 p.m., with a service in celebration of his life to follow. The Interment will follow the celebration service.
