James "Jim" Massey

James L. "Jim" Massey, age 91 of Nashville, TN, passed away December 15, 2013.

Mr. Massey was born July 7, 1922 in Nashville, TN to William Oliver and Mettie Ballard Massey. Mr. Massey served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946, and the U.S. Air Force from 1947-1964, through World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He later studied to become a master electrician, eventually opening his own business, J & M Electric Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Howard and William O. Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Mary M. Decker Massey; son, Stephen L. Massey; grandson, Stephen James (Gayle) Massey; great-granddaughters, Mikayla and Hope Massey; nephew, Harold Halliburton; nieces, Melissa Massey, Sharon Lorenson and Deanna Middaugh.

A celebration of Mr. Massey's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 from the Chapel of Spring Hill Funeral Home, with Rev. Jack Barron and Rev. Harold Halliburton officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
