MURPHY, Lynn Ronald Age 78, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2013 with his family by his bedside. He is preceded in death by his son, Grady Lynn Murphy and five of brothers. Ronald is survived by his wife, Darlene Murphy; daughters, Janet Lynn Murphy and Mitzi Murphy (Andrew) Bonnell; grandchildren, Hunter (Jana) Buttrey, Hannah Madison and Jonathan Murphy; four sisters; two brothers and his furry children, Frankie and Kasey. In highschool, Ronald carried the nickname "the quiet man". Ronald was a dedicated and loyal fireman for 43 years with the Nashville Fire Department. All of the firefighters would agree that Ronald was one of the best Chief's that they had ever had. He had the honor of becoming one of the youngest Chief's with the department. Mr. Murphy loved the outdoors, football, Twinkies and had a hankering for a Wendy's Frosty. Ronald loved serving his community in a way that most people cannot, and still had plenty of time for his family. He was a loving father, husband and grandfather and will be sadly missed by all. A visitation will be held from four until eight o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 29th of August, 2013 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held at eleven thirty in the morning on Friday, the 30th of August, 2013 in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall with Chief Buck Dozier officiating. A visitation will also be held two hours prior to the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Nashville Humane Association.
