THOMPSON, Ross Hopkins Age 85 of Nashville. Went to be with the Lord Friday, April 20, 2012. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Vanderbilt University and a member of the SAE fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army in Occupied Japan. He was preceded in death by parents, Roy V. Thompson and Sarah Hopkins Thompson, Nashville; sister, Margaret Thompson Murdock and brother-in-law, John B. Murdock, New Orleans, LA. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Harriett Nesbitt Thompson; sons, Steven Ross Thompson, Maryland, David Walter Thompson (Gail), Nashville; daughter, Sarah Preston (Richard), Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Rebecca and Daniel Thompson, Maryland, Liza and Tori Thompson, Columbia, TN; 5 nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff of Odyssey Hospice for the loving care given. Visitation with the family will be from 1 - 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 24th at the Mount Olivet Funeral Home, 1101 Lebanon Road. A graveside service and Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery with Rev. James Bachmann and Rev. Jack Foster officiating.
