Walter Edward Sullins, Sr., age 83 of White House, TN, died Saturday, January 25, 2014.
Walter was born January 30, 1930 in Nashville, TN. He was division chief of the railroad police at CSX Transportation, formerly Seaboard Systems and L&N Railroad for over 31 years from 1956 until 1987. His career was served in Nashville, Chattanooga and Montgomery, AL. He was a dedicated railroad employee and received numerous awards.
Walter was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in Air Police, and was a longtime member of Kemper Heights Church of Christ in Madison, TN.
Walter was the son of Jody Sullins and Bessie Scoggins Sullins, and brother of S.T., Eugene, Joe, Juanita (Roberson) and Alton Sullins. Surviving siblings are Joe E. Sullins, Jr. and Juanita Roberson.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther Winfrey Sullins; sons, Walter Edward "Eddie" (Neva) Sullins, Jr., Michael (Condra) Sullins; daughter, Pam (Scott) Lawrence; grandsons, Daniel, Jody, Walt, Cody and Cory Sullins, Max Lawrence.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home, White House, with Bro. Ken Green officiating. Interment will follow at White House Memorial Gardens, with Walter's grandsons serving as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
