William Hugh Knox III, D.D.S.
Dr. William Knox of Nashville, Tennessee, died Friday, February 7, 2014. He was born on September 29, 1929, and was the son of William Hugh Knox Jr. and Ruth Gardiner Knox.
He attended M.B.A., Vanderbilt University, and received a doctorate degree in Dentistry at the University of Tennessee. After completing dental school, Bill served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy and was stationed on the island of Guam. Upon returning to Nashville, it was his privilege to practice dentistry for 40 years and to give his service to his wonderful patients.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Lewisy Knox; two daughters, Carol (Roy) Rees, and Genevieve (Clyde) Rimes; two sons, William H. (Dawn) Knox IV and George (Tonya) Knox. Dr. Knox is also survived by five grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
He was gracious to all who knew him, supported numerous charities and contributed greatly to the community.
Visitation for Dr. Knox will be held 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205. A private family service will follow the visitation at 1:30 p.m. at the church.
