LAFAYETTE - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette for Dewey Duplechin, 84, who died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.

Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Park in Lafayette.

Reverend Father Daniel Edwards of St. Jules Catholic Church will officiate.

Dewey was born Saturday, April 7, 1928 in Church Point and was a lifetime resident of Acadiana. A proud veteran, Dewey served as a Corporal in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a barber for 47 years. Dewey was a parishioner of St. Jules Catholic Church.

Dewey was active in his community and belonged to the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus of St. Jules Catholic Church as well as the 4th Degree of Bishop DuBourg Council. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed.

Duplechin is survived by his two sons, Craig G. Duplechin and wife Rebecca and Charles Dewey Duplechin all of Lafayette; two brothers, J.B. Duplechin and wife Winona of Lafayette and Kermit Duplechin and wife Neva of Rayne; a sister, Theresa Savoy of Rayne; two grandchildren, Alison Elizabeth Ann Duplechin and Andrew Michael Duplechin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Miller Duplechin, and his parents, Hubert and Azalia Courville Duplechin, and sister, Hilda Miller.

Visitation will be observed at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm and resumes Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 8:00 am until time of services.

A rosary will be recited on Friday, November 23, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Pallbearers will be Carrol Duplechin, Kenny Duplechin, Patrick Miller, Frank Prejean, Bryan Duplechin and Floyd Courville.

The family wishes to thank his god-daughter, Donna Boss, daughter-in-law, Rebecca, and Dr. and Mrs. Mitch Dugas for the compassionate care given to Dewey and his family.
