Dorothy "Dot" Bourque Duhon

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Basil Catholic Church in Judice for Dorothy "Dot" Bourque Duhon, 82, who died on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her residence in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Basil Cemetery.

Reverend Rex Broussard, Pastor of St. Basil Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lectors will be Carlie Bumgardner and Luann Duhon. Giftbearers will be Holly Easley and Connie Fine. Ted Broussard, vocalist, will perform the musical selections. Robert Fine will give the eulogy.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 63 years, Dudley Earl Duhon; six children, Joan LeBlanc and her husband, Dwight, Ted Duhon, Connie Fine, Kathy Williams and her husband, JJ, Peggy Duhon and Jimmie Duhon and his wife, Luann; ten grandchildren, Holly Easley, Lessie LeBlanc, Wesley Fine, Andrea Fine, Katie LeBlanc, Lori Duhon, Maggie Michel, Robert Fine, Carlie Bumgardner, Alyson Duhon; eight great grandchildren, Abel Duhon, Ethan LeBlanc, Morgan Michel, Adam Easley, Dylan Fine, Reagen Daigle, Harper Duhon, and Kaya Melancon; one brother, Charles Bourque, and his wife Grace; and one brother-in-law, Wayne Boudreaux.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jacques Bourque; her mother, Eve Boullion Bourque; one brother, Aaron Bourque, wife Mozelle; and seven sisters, Frances Breaux, husband Anthony, Mildred Jenkins, husband Frank, Rose Junot, husband Lawrence, Ethel Lee Sonnier, husband Odra, Zeola Guidry, husband Harris, Marjorie Montalvo, husband Benito, Beverly Roger, and Charleen Boudreaux.

Dorothy Bourque Duhon was born on March 16, 1931 in Duson, Louisiana. "Dot", as she was known by family and friends, had very great concern for her family receiving the best Christian upbringing. She was responsible for the movement that led to the establishment of St. Basil Church in Judice, where she later served as president of the first St. Basil Church Council. "Dot" was a Girl Scout Leader, a Cub Scout Leader, President of Judice PTA, and a CCD Leader. She was a charter member of the Judice Fire Department, auxiliary member of VFW Post 9822, and auxiliary member of the Retired Teachers Association. Putting her family first, her next love was traveling by motor coach to many parts of the U.S. and Canada with her husband. They were very active members of the Crusin' Cajuns and Family Motor Coach Association. "Dot" was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother sister and friend to all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
