SUNSET - Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Eddie Guidry, age 85, who passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at his residence in Sunset.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau.
Eddie Guidry, born May 18, 1927, was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset. He was employed with O'Neal Steel Company and Ronny Daigle, faithful and devoted friend to all his neighbors. Eddie was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He loved the racetrack and casino. Mr. Guidry was a faithful parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Every Sunday after Mass he would visit his parents at the cemetery. He was a member of the American Legion in Church Point
Survivors include one sister, Amelia Guidry Henry of Sunset; two brothers, Ashton Guidry and Spencer Guidry, Jr., both of Sunset; one sister-in-law, Doris Guidry of Lake Charles; a companion, Louilla Jolivette and her son, Kevin Jolivette. He leaves and cherishes his godchildren, Oliver Briscoe, Dolores Henry Sampy, Patrick Guidry, Hollus Plumber; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Guidry, Sr. and the former Bernadette Thomas, both natives of Sunset; two brothers, Melvin Briscoe and Rodney Guidry; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Briscoe and Hazel Henry Guidry; and one brother-in-law, Joseph V.H. Henry.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Henry, Larry Henry, Percy Briscoe, Olivier Briscoe, Johnny Henry and John Roland Guidry.
