Emery Joseph Courville

ARNAUDVILLE - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Emery Joseph Courville, age 81, who passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 2:10 a.m. at J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville.

Interment will be in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville. The Rev. Keenan Brown, pastor of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Courville was a native of Arnaudville where he lived most of his life. He was employed with Evangeline Downs for thirty six years. He also worked hard a local farmer and cattleman. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Courville was a veteran of the military, having served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Marie Louise Hollier Courville of Arnaudville; two sons, Ricky Courville and his fiancée, Nioka Gary, of Lafayette, and Michael Courville and his wife, Kim, of Arnaudville; four daughters, Barbara C. Stelly and her husband, Mike, of Arnaudville, Debra C. Boudreaux and her husband, Ronald, of New Iberia, Donna C. Sorrel and her husband, Snooks, of New Iberia, and Gail C. Cooper and her husband, Robert, of Alexandria; one brother, Arcade Courville, Jr., and his wife, Maude, of Arnaudville; nine grandchildren, Tiffany S. Lapeyrouse and her husband, Brian, Christopher Hebert, Regina Boudreaux, Jonathan Courville, Natalie Boudreaux, Nicole Boudreaux, David Cooper, Caleb Sorrel and Daniel Courville; and three great grandchildren, Jude Lapeyrouse, Chloe Courville and Liam Lapeyrouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arcade Courville, Sr. and the former Odile Bertinot; one son, David Courville; one brother, Percy Courville; and one sister, Odelia Landry.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
