Frank Allen Nice, Jr.

BRYAN, TEXAS - Frank Allen Nice, Jr., 93, went to meet his Savior peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Thursday, May 23, 2013. His care is entrusted to Hillier Funeral Home. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Frank was born on September 29, 1919 to Frank A. Nice, Sr. and Blanch Heim in Houston. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bryan.

After attending San Jacinto High School in Houston in 1937, Frank graduated from Texas A&M University in 1941 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He was immediately inducted into the U.S. Armed Services as 1st Lt. and was assigned to the 8th Air Force Ordnance. Frank served for four years in the European Theatre of Operations during WWII. Following his discharge, he pursued a career in the oil and gas industry with Texas Gulf Producing Co. Upon retiring, Frank served as a petroleum engineer consultant and together with his wife, Yvonne, traveled to many parts of the world.

Frank and Yvonne lived their dream of owning and living aboard a boat for 5 years, exploring the islands of the Bahamas. They moved to Bryan after living 40 years in Lafayette, LA. He was very active in the First Baptist Church of Lafayette as a Sunday school leader, a visitation minister, a prayer room volunteer, and he also visited nursing homes with a group of others weekly. Frank loved the Lord and the Foot of the Cross is truly his abiding place.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Roy Allen Nice and wife Murian Stafford Nice.

Frank is survived by his wife of 42 years, Yvonne Jones Nice; his daughter, Brenda and her husband John Croom of Lake Limestone; sister, Margery N. Elskes of Houston; stepchildren, Kathryn Parish of Oceanside, CA, Richard Parish and wife Margaret of Superior, CO, Michael K. Parish and wife Kelly of San Antonio, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
