Gary Richard Reagan

LAFAYETTE - Passed away at 8:00AM on January 15, 2014 at the age of 82. He will be sorely missed. He was born on July 1, 1931 in White Horse, Calgary, Canada. Gary lived a fairly nomadic childhood through Oklahoma, Texas and Louisiana until graduating from Cathedral High School (Now Cathedral-Carmel). After serving our country as a United States Marine Corps Sergeant during the Korean War, Gary then graduated in Geology from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now UL-Lafayette). Taking Julie Claire Mouton as his bride on January 23, 1954, he then embarked on his geology career in the oil field around the Gulf Coast area between Houston and New Orleans. During the 50's, 60's and 70's, they raised five children while Gary also pursued his passion for hunting and fishing. With five growing children, his interests grew to include scuba diving, fly fishing and snow skiing, regularly taking the family to explore the waters of the Gulf Coast and Florida Keys, as well as the rivers and mountains of Colorado and Wyoming. During the 70's, 80's and 90's, Gary and Julie were regulars on the slopes and streams of the Aspen and Snowmass area. During these years, Gary, along with his children was also a regular at their duck camp in Little Chenier, and the great fishing along the Louisiana Gulf Coast.

With a growing distaste for the mounting risks and regulations of exploratory geology, Gary later altered his career to land work. He became a regular of the court houses of Southern Louisiana with Julie working by his side. Together, they mentored many younger folks in this highly detailed work.

Gary is survived by his wife, Julie Claire Mouton Reagan and his brother Kenneth Reagan, of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by his children, Nancy Reagan Mackrides, wife of William "Chip" Mackrides, Jr. She is an Attorney's Office Manager and Legal Assistant in Philadelphia; Charles Reagan, husband of Sharon Galloway Reagan. He is an Architect in Dallas; Michael Reagan, husband of Antoinette Fontenot Reagan. He is an Industrial Engineer in Baton Rouge; Patrick Reagan, husband of Suzann Terrell Reagan. He is a business owner and Landman in Lafayette and Thomas Reagan, husband of Charlene Pearcy Reagan. He is a Real Estate Entrepreneur in Austin.

Gary is also survived by his grandchildren Daniel and Nicholas Mackrides, Lauren Reagan Nimmons and Katherine Reagan, Ashton Stokes and Margaret LeMaire Bunting, Taylor, Shelby and Patrick Reagan, Jr. and Cameron, Cole and Avery Reagan, as well as two great grandchildren, Cade and Madden Nimmons. Gary is also survived by a large number of men and women that respected and revered him as a father figure. This is mentioned because his last words were, "Tell my children that I love them all dearly". If you feel you were one of this number, know that you were loved dearly.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Clarence (Babe) and Maxine Reagan, as well as a number of great hunting Labradors.
