Gaudy "Pop" Doré Sr.

SCOTT - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Gaudy J. "Pop" Doré, Sr., 86, who died on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center surrounded by his family.

Interment will be in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott.

Reverend Mario Romero, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.

He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Katherine "Kitty" Stokes and her husband, Rex, Deborah Sonnier and Donna Humphreys and her husband, Michael; six sons, Lister Doré and his wife, Heidi, Raymond Doré and his wife, Toni, Alphen "A.J." Doré and his wife, Carolyn, Rodney "Tuffy" Doré and his wife, Ruthie, Gaudy "Bitsy" Doré, Jr. and his wife, Debra, Donald Doré and his wife, Deva and Daniel Leger and his wife, Lisa; 34 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and 3 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eljean M. Doré; his parents, Clement and Elmire Doré; and one son, Dwayne J. Doré, Sr.; one son-in-law, Benny Sonnier, Sr.; two grandsons, Benny Sonnier, Jr. and Richard Doré; five sisters; and three brothers.

Gaudy "Pop" Doré, Sr. owned and operated Doré's Hot Shot Service where he managed a fleet of 41 trucks and also owned and operated A1 Tire for over 31 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and traveling. He enjoyed life, himself, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Gaudy "Pop" Doré, Sr., proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. "Pop" was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, uncle, and friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Art Bakeler, Jr. on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 7:00 PM in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services.
