Mrs. Helen Hamilton Bailey

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, for Mrs. Helen Hamilton Bailey, 88, who died on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen, Pastor of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, soloist, accompanied by Tom Niel, organist, will sing "Ave Maria", "Panis Angelicus", "Notre Pere", "Pie Jesu" and "The Lord is My Shepherd" for the services.

Survivors include her daughter, Helen Bailey Kolb and her husband Frederick T. Kolb of Bellaire, TX and three grandchildren, Frances Kolb, Caroline Jadloski and Eleanor Kolb. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Francis Bailey; parents, Charles Edward and Ruth Mouton Hamilton; and two sisters, Ruth Turpie and Mary Virginia Nelson.

A lifelong resident of Lafayette, Mrs. Helen Bailey graduated high school from the Academy of Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, completed undergraduate study from Maryville College in St. Louis, Missouri and received her Masters in Social Work from Tulane University. She was a former president of the Junior League of Lafayette and a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Galvez Chapter of the Louisiana Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, Daughters of the American Colonist, National Society Magna Carter Dames and Barons, United States Daughters of War of 1812 and the National Society of Dames of the Coat of Honor. Mrs. Bailey will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
