Hervie Dillingham, Jr.

Lafayette - A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 at 4:00 pm at Fountain Memorial Funeral Home in Lafayette for Hervie Dillingham Jr., 88, who died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette.

Hervie was born Monday, February 2, 1925 in Johnston City, IL. Hervie first served in World War II as a pilot of a B-24 (Liberator Bomber). His overseas duty in the Pacific was that of a Super Fortress co-pilot of a B-29. Before WWII, he attended Southern Illinois University for almost a year. After the war, he graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, earning a bachelor degree in geology and a master's degree in micro-paleontology. Until retirement, he worked for Atlantic Refining Company, Atlantic Richfield, Arco and British Petroleum.

Mr. Dillingham is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Karnes Dillingham of Lafayette; son, Michael Dillingham of Houston, TX; son, Thomas Dillingham and his wife Karen of Aliso Viejo, CA; grandchildren, Zoe, Ben and Charlie Dillingham, all of Aliso Viejo, CA; sister-in-law, Sara Kresser and her husband Gene of Schaumburg, IL; niece, Susan Clark and nephew, Steven Clark, both of Aurora, CO; nephew, Jeff Boomhower of Lake Zurich, IL; great niece, Sara Rigney of Denver, CO, and niece, Devi Clark of Aurora, CO, and many special cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Hervie Dillingham.
