Irving A. Domingue

SCOTT - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Concelebrate Mass of Christian burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Irving Adam Domingue, age 86, who passed away on May 4, 2016 at his residence surrounded by family.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Gilbert Dutel pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette, accompanied by con-celebrant Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church will officiate at the services. The altar server will be his son, David A. Domingue. Readers will be Nanette Domingue, Trevor Domingue and Alex Domingue.

Giftbearers will be his grandchildren Keri, Duncan, Trevor and Alex Domingue.

The songs will be How Great Thou Art, Hail Mary, Gentle Woman, Here I Am Lord and Gift of Finest Wheat.

Irving was born on September 17, 1946, was a native and resident of Scott. He proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II from Nov. 1944 to July 1946. Retired after 41 years from the US Post Office. He was a member of APWU where he served as president and he was an active member of NARFE. After retiring from the post office, he drove a school bus for LPSB for a few years and decided he would enjoy life. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching a good baseball game especially the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed going to the casino.

He is survived by two sons, John Alex Domingue and his wife Kim, David Adam Domingue and his wife, Nanette, all of Scott; four grandchildren, Keri Alexis Domingue, Duncan Ross Domingue, Trevor Adam Domingue and Alex Michael Domingue of Scott; one sister, Eva Mae Hebert and her husband, Cecil, of Lafayette. He is also survived by his sister-in-law/dear friend, Joan Domingue; his brother/sister-in-law, Melvin and Gussie Clause; sisters-in-law, Elsie Boudreaux, Lynn Clause, Anna Marie Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Eva Dell Clause Domingue; his parents John L. Domingue, Sr. and Beulah Babineaux Domingue; two brothers, John L. "J.L.", Domingue, Jr. and Harold Domingue; one sister, Maud "Boots" and her husband, Leroy Mouton.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

Pallbearers were his grandsons Duncan, Trevor and Alex Domingue, his nephews Donald Benoit, Joey Mouton, Lamont Domingue. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Louiverre, Allen Dugas, Mike Dugas, Melvin Clause, Connie Landry and Byron Boudreaux.

The family wishes to thank Dr. James Clause, Hospice of Acadiana especially Iggy and his sitters Dawn Vincent and Marie Elow with Louise Sitter Service.
