LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at a 1:30 PM Catholic Service in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for John A. Hebert, age 82, who died on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Camelot of Broussard.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Reverend Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Trudy Richard.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Grossie and her husband, Kanen; a step daughter, Janice Ann Schexnayder; grandchildren, Keegan, Sydney, Reese and Lucas Grossie, and Ronnie, Rhonda, and Raymond Schexnayder.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis Hebert and the former, Philomene Prejean, both natives of Milton, Louisiana; three brothers, J.B. Hebert, J.C. Hebert and J.D. Hebert; and one sister, Girlee Hebert.
Mr. Hebert was born on July 28, 1931 in Milton, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. He was a veteran of military service, having proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Hebert was a retired Police Officer with the City of Lafayette with over 20 years of service. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed horticulture, writing country music and loved LSU Baseball.
Pallbearers will be Kanen Grossie, Keegan Grossie, Corey Babineaux, David Duclise Pellerin, Bleu LeBleu and Lucas Grossie.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
