SCOTT - Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Laura Babineaux Comeaux, age 83, who passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 7:45 p.m. at Southwest LA War Veterans Home in Jennings.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.

Mrs. Comeaux was a native of Welsh, raised in Vatican, having lived most of her life in Scott. She was previously employed with the Lafayette Parish School Board as a cafeteria manager at West Side Elementary in Scott, where she retired in 1992 after twenty-five years of service. Mrs. Comeaux was a parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9822 in Judice.

Survivors include her husband of sixty four years, Irving Comeaux of Scott; three sons, Linden Comeaux, Sr. and his wife, Barbara, of Coteau, Patrick Comeaux and his wife, Kathleen, of Baton Rouge and Craig Comeaux and his wife, Raye Ann "Tiger", of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Marlene Comeaux of Scott; seven grandchildren, Stacy Landry and her husband, Matt, Wesley Comeaux and his wife, Cheryl, Kellie Mule and her husband, Richard, Linden Comeaux, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, Christy Comeaux, Brandi Comeaux and Ashley Leger and her husband, Brayton; six great grandchildren, Rylee Comeaux, Luke Comeaux, Alex Comeaux, Emerson Landry, Breaker Landry and Jon Spell; and a special friend, Belle Orga Roger of Scott.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theophile Babineaux, Jr. and the former, Melvina Forestier, both natives of Carencro; and three brothers, Curris Babineaux, Gurvis Babineaux and Preston Babineaux.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

Memorial contributions in the name of Mrs. Laura Comeaux may be made to Heart of Hospice, or St. Jude's Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Comeaux, Linden Comeaux, Jr., Brayton Leger, Tim Comeaux, Richard Mule and Mike Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Landry and Lowell Roger.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Martha Venable, Mary Mouton, Heart of Hospice and staff of Southwest LA War Veteran's Home in Jennings.
