CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Michael "Pete" Kleinpeter, age 43, who passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the services.
Pete graduated from Teurlings High School in 1988. For the last seven years, he worked at Courtesy Automotive Group. He was a volunteer for Special Olympics, served as an assistant football coach at Brown Park, and was an avid softball player. An enthusiastic LSU fan, Pete also enjoyed riding 4-wheelers with his family, particularly with his two best friends - his brothers Bryan and C.C.
Pete was best known for his wonderful smile, fun-loving personality, and abundant generosity. He gave his love and support selflessly to others throughout his life just as he did in death as an organ donor. Pete was deeply respected by everyone who knew him and will always be remembered for his ability to put God and his family above all things.
Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Michelle T. Kleinpeter, of Breaux Bridge; his parents, Mike and Rita Kleinpeter, both of Breaux Bridge; one son, Gavin Kleinpeter of Breaux Bridge; one daughter, Raegan Kleinpeter of Breaux Bridge; two brothers, C.C. Kleinpeter and his wife, April, of Carencro and Bryan Kleinpeter and his wife, Michelle, of Breaux Bridge; two nephews, Jacob Kleinpeter and Conner Kleinpeter and three nieces, Chelsey Huval, Carla Kleinpeter and Bella Kleinpeter.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Pete and Hazel Kleinpeter; and his maternal grandparents, Henry and Frances Watson.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Wednesday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
