LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at 2:30 PM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Roger A. Duhon, 90, who died on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at his residence in Breaux Bridge. Reverend D. Montgomery, Evangelist Minister of Healing & Deliverance, will conduct the funeral services. Mr. Duhon's great granddaughter, Katelyn Mouton, organist, will play for the funeral service.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Stella Menard Duhon; two daughters, Denise Berard and Rhonda Mouton; one son, Ronald Duhon and his wife Diane; six grandchildren, Joel A. Mouton, Jeanne M. Dupuis, Coby J. Berard, Corey M. Berard, Jason M. Duhon and Dawn M. Kosmakos; eleven great grandchildren, Jadon M. Mouton, Jewel A. Mouton, Katelyn M. Mouton, Kodie L. Dupuis, Gavin M. Berard, Gage M. Berard, Gracelyn D. Berard, Duley J. Duhon, Jacob F. Duhon, Shawn T. Kosmakos and Devin J. Kosmakos; two brothers, Forrest P. Duhon and Carrol LeBlanc; and one sister, Verna Domingue. He was preceded in death by parents, Duley Duhon and Editha LeBlanc.
A native of Maurice and a resident of Lafayette Parish for most of his life, Roger Duhon proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was an Optometrist in Lafayette for over 50 years and retired due to an illness. He loved his race horses and was an avid reader. Roger's grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved spending time with them. Roger Duhon will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Ronald Duhon, Jason Duhon, Joel Mouton, Coby Berard, Corey Berard, Jadon Mouton and William Verranault. Honorary Pallbearers will be Forrest P. Duhon and Carrol LeBlanc
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 9:00 AM until the time of service. A Rosary will be prayed on Saturday by Glenn Faul at 12:00 PM (Noon) in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
