LAFAYETTE - Memorial Services for Ruth will be held Monday Oct. 7, 2013 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the VFW Hall in Youngsville, LA. Ruth LaPierre passed away Thursday October 3rd, she was a native of Birlington, KS and a lifelong resident of the Lafayette area.
She worked at the Sears Distribution Center in Scott LA, for many years. She was a devote member of the The First Church of Christian Science in Lafayette. Her supports of the church included being 1st Reader, 2nd Reader, Library attendant and many other duties. She loved traveling, camping, crocheting, crossword puzzles, reading and especially loved being around her family and friends.
Her kindness was infectious, spirit unwavering and her smile was contagious. She lived her life the way she felt was best for her and her family. She often said if Willie Nelson wanted to eat crackers in her bed she wouldn't kick him out of it.
She is survived by her younger brother James Whistler, her seven children; Frank DeShazo; Robert DeShazo and his wife Kyla; John LaPierre; Jackie LaPierre; Billy LaPierre and his wife Tessa; Valarie Ellerbee; David LaPierre and his wife Michelle. She also is survived by 16 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
