Wayne Holtzapple

CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Wayne E. Holtzapple, age 83, who passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at 4:45 at his residence in Carencro.

Interment will be at a later date in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Carencro. The Rev. Msgr. Russell Harrington, pastor of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church in Cankton, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Sarah Clavelle, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be The Old Rugged Cross and Nearer My God to Thee.

Mr. Holtzapple was a native of Mishawaka, Indiana and resident of Carencro for the past forty five years. He was previously employed as a machinist for most of his life and retired with NON-MAG Incorporated after twenty five years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. Mr. Holtzapple was a parishioner of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, and a former member of the Bonne Mort Society.

Survivors include his wife of sixty one years, Jeanette Zaunbrecher Holtzapple of Carencro; four daughters, Jennifer Richey and her husband, Rocky, of Carencro, Cynthia Comeaux of Lafayette, Cheryl Duhon and her husband, Dan, of Carencro, Joan Breaux and her husband, John, of Lafayette; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sherman Holtzapple, and the former Mattie Jane Baber; one son, Blaine Holtzapple; one daughter, Karen Clavelle; five brothers, Russell Holtzapple, Donald Holtzapple, Robert Holtzapple and Waldo Holtzapple; six sisters, Mary Mae Richardson, Anna Marie Reed, Maxine Koontz, Beatrice Clark, Virginia Holtzapple, Vera Holtzapple; two grandchildren, Scotty Comeaux and Daphane Duhon.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Evangeline Memorial Chapel.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. Friday until service time at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Comeaux, Wade Richey, Chris Richey, Coby Clavelle, Lance Comeaux and Coy Clavelle. Honorary Pallbearer will be Cole Clavelle.
