Apolonio "A.P." Puga Gonzales, Jr., 56, formerly of Salinas, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Ramona, where he had resided over the last two years. He was born May 10, 1957, in Harlingen, TX.
Apolonio graduated from Alisal High School and Hartnell College. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then went on to work for the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for more than 28 years and retired as a Captain.
Apolonio was preceded in death by his father, Apolonio T. Gonzales, of Salinas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Elizabeth R. Gonzales; son, Apolonio R. Gonzales of San Diego; daughters, Monica R. Gonzales of Salinas, Yolanda (Brian) Mattos of Tulare, and Teresa R. Gonzales of San Diego; grandchildren, Paul, Anabelle, Jobe, Jazmine, and Nickoli; mother, Concepcion P. Gonzales of Salinas; brothers, Tony, Robert, Joe, Ernie, Sam, and Roy Gonzales; sisters, Mary Gonzales, Juanita Boutwell, Lupe Gonzales, and Lilly Caldwell; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends also survive.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 1 to 9 p.m., with an Evening Prayer service at 6 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11 a.m., at the 1st Apostolic Assembly Church, 1104 Fontes Lane, Salinas, CA 93907.
Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
