Bienvenido Relampagos Fortugaliza

Bienvenido Relampagos Fortugaliza passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was born March 22, 1914, in the Philippines and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hornet during WWII.

After the war, he settled in Salinas and started farm work where he met his wife. He had a strawberry farm for many years before he became a U.S. citizen. He eventually retired as a civil service employee from Fort Ord.

Bienvenido is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Aiko.

He is survived by his sons, Ricardo and his wife, Pam; Felix and his wife, Judith; brothers, Steven and Bienvenido Jr. and his daughter, Debie and her husband, Richard; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2014, at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2014, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901

Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
