Marcellene Kinman

Born to Nellie and Maurice Covert on August 8, 1928, Marcy left with the setting sun on June 18, 2013 in San Jose with family at her side.

Marcy described her Ohio childhood as "wonderful" surrounded by siblings and cousins and was happiest when friends and family gathered. She had a lifetime love of travel, hours long card games and books. Summers at Lake Berryessa and winters in Tahoe brought all of these things together. There were no strangers in her life, just friends she hadn't met yet.

A graduate of Ohio State University, Marcy earned a Masters and teaching credentials at Fresno State. She taught at Alisal Elementary School, was an Assistant Principal and found time to be a Cub Scout leader and attend her kids ballgames, plays and concerts. A second career in Silicon Valley, started as one of Borland's early employees and finished with Guidant Technologies.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Wilber; brother, Donald (Margaret) Covert; son, Eric Kinman and former husband, Gene Kinman.

Surviving Marcy is her brother, Mark (Joan) Covert; children, Randi Kinman (Paul), Barry Kinman (Marilyn) and Laurel Kinman; grandchildren, Gabriel Parr, Rebekah Parr, Van Hefner (Amber), Leah Kinman (JP) and Christine Jones (Aaron); and great-grandchildren Hope, Riley, Sophia and Cristina along with her cousins and best friend Shirley.

At her request no services will be held. Donations in Marcy's memory can be made to your local library or any group that brings the joy of books to others.

Never be afraid to go someplace new, sing often, laugh loud and dance any time you can.
