Margaret Cang

Margaret Cang, 74, of Salinas, died Monday, March 24, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 19, 1939, in Bancroft, WI.

She graduated from Assumption High School in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She obtained her B.A. in Liberal Arts from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She later earned her Master Degree in Secondary Education at Monterey Institute of Foreign Studies in Monterey.

Margaret was passionate about education and was a teacher for more than 40 years. She taught English, Social Studies, Economics, Journalism, and also was a high school counselor working with at risk students. Margaret was a high school teacher at Notre Dame High School in Salinas. She also taught at Broadway High School, Pioneer High School, and the Middle College in the San Jose School District. She was active in the Virtual Enterprise Program. She took her students on field trips all over the country and the world. After her retirement, she was the historian for the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, which is an international society for key women educators. She traveled all over the world with her husband on over 20 cruises and 10 land tours visiting countries in Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America, and the Middle East.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Paul Cang; daughter, Mary Nail (Cang); son, Peter Cang; daughter, Michelle Cang; daughter, Maureen Caballero (Cang); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Visitation and Rosary will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014, at McFarlane Mortuary in South Lake Tahoe.

Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe.

She will be buried immediately following at Happy Homestead Cemetary in South Lake Tahoe.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her name to the or the .
