Robert G. Blanton


Robert Gray Blanton, 90, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2013, in Salinas. He was born February 2, 1923, in Newport, AR.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, where he received the Purple Heart Medal. After the military, he then began his career of 40 years as an Iron Worker with the Iron Workers Union. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 204 F & AM.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Soth of Sherwood, AR and Lisa Garland of Arroyo Seco; sons, Robert V. Blanton of San Diego and Rick L. Blanton of St. Louis, MO; niece, Linda Yates of Salinas; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Blanton.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m., at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the Healey Mortuary Chapel.

Following services, Burial with Military Honors will take place at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.
