Willie Dean "W.D." Cummins 76, of Prunedale, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013. He was born, May 29, 1937 in Hollis, OK. Willie was a member of VFW-Lifetime Member, Gonzales Post, Moose Lodge Member, and Paralyzed Veterans of America. He was a Retired veteran of the US Army serving for 21 years holding the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and traveled the world proudly serving his country. He earned numerous medals including the Bronze Star with 1 bronze oak leaf cluster with letter "V" device and the Combat Infantryman Badge. After retiring from the Army in 1975 from Fort Ord, CA, he worked in the Landscaping and Trucking businesses. Willie enjoyed many different activities throughout his life. He loved playing cards all night with his brothers and sisters as well as square dancing, bowling and dredging for gold up in the Sierras. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Howard M. & Gladys Marie Cummins and sisters, Rose Hogan and Wilma Walls

He is survived by his former spouse, Virginia Cummins of Prunedale, daughters, Tina Packwood of Tuolumne, Lisa Ramirez of Prunedale, son-in-law, Ernie Ramirez of Prunedale, grandchildren, Jeffery (Rebecca) Ramirez of Salinas, Monica Ramirez of Salinas, Matthew Clark of Oregon, Jenny Clark of Oregon, great grandchildren, Katie Clark, Alyssa Baum, Timothy Holley, Delaney Ramirez & Ellie May Clark. He is also survived by his brothers, Weldon "Jay" (Sharon Lee) Cummins, of Montana, Howard "Sid" Cummins, of Modesto and Fred (Teri) Cummins of Modesto and Sisters, Shirla Burns of Oklahoma, Sue Perry of Oregon, Betty Jean (Harry) Wheeler of Greely Hill and Linda Carter of Denair and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013 12:00p.m. to 5:00p.m at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 E. Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, July 8, 2013 at 1:30p.m. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road, Santa Nella, CA. 95322. With Full Military Honors.

Donations can be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street, Washington, DC 20006 or Donor's Favorite Charity.
