Bruce A. Mackie II, 92, of Laurel Springs and formerly of Millville, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at the Kennedy Hospital Vitas Hospice in Stratford after a brief illness.

Born in Vineland to the late Bruce A. and Charlotti A. (Fisher) Mackie, he graduated from Vineland High School.

After the start of World War II, Mr. Mackie immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Signal Corps as a high speed radio operator. He served in the Pacific Theatre and he participated in the campaigns of Luzon and New Guinea.

After the war he married. For many years, Mr. Mackie worked as a salesman for Stites Paper and then Keebler Baking Co. He then worked as the head salesman for Pitney-Bowes of Philadelphia, and later for Frieden Calculators of Philadelphia.

Mr. Mackie was a member of the Masonic Temple Shekinah, F&A Masons, Chapter Nos. 58 and 82 of Millville, and the Elks Lodge of Millville, No. 580. He enjoyed going to the Millville Library to read their investment papers. He also enjoyed investing and going to the flea markets. He was an active mall walker, and he enjoyed socializing with people.

Mr. Mackie is survived by two sons, Daniel Mackie and wife Kathy of Laurel Springs, and Bruce Mackie III of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother Frank Mackie of Vineland; one sister, Mary Ellis of Bridgeton; three grandchildren, Heather Graf of Gloucester Township, Daniel Mackie of Gloucester Township, and Brandon Mackie and wife Katie of Atlanta, Ga.; and one great-grandchild, Devon Graf. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred (Larro), in 2009; and one daughter-in-law, Carol.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Christy Funeral Home, 11 W. Broad St., Millville. There will be a viewing on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery, Landisville.

The family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Millville Public Library, 210 Buck St, Millville, NJ 08332.
