Clara (Hochmann) Wasserstrum, 93, passed away, Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Kennedy Health Systems in Cherry Hill.

Born in Zlochev, Poland, she came to the United States in 1949. She was a Holocaust survivor. Clara was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue, the Haddasah, Agudath Achim Synagogue, Hebrew Women's Benevolent Society and its Sisterhood. She and her late husband owned and operated Sam's Market at Main Road and Sherman Avenue in Vineland from 1961 to 1983.

Clara is survived by her son, Seymour Wasserstrum, Esq., of Vineland; and nieces, Nella Glick of Vineland and Yetta Bergstein of Arizona; grand nieces and nephews, Eli Glick, Ethel Rosenberg, Jason and Evan Rosenberg, Susan Cancell, Samantha and Alex Cancell, Renee Goodman, Jordan Goodman, Leonard Bergstein, Rachel Bergstein and David Bergstein. She was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Sam Wasserstrum, in 1990; her sister, Esther Distenfeld; her brother-in-law, Solomon Distenfeld; and her nephew, Ben Bergstein.

Friends will be received from noon today followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma. Shiva will be observed at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue.
