James A "Bud" Haas III, 63, of Millville, died Fri. afternoon, Feb. 21, 2014 in the Inspira Hospice Center of Bridgeton with his family by his side. Born in Camden, he grew up in Millville and graduated from Millville High School in 1968.
He had played football and wrestled, and was considered a strong swimmer. He had been cited by the Boy Scouts for his heroic rescue of a fellow scout in 1961. He had worked for the City of Millville's Water Department as a senior water repairman for 33 years and retired. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church of Millville where he served as an usher for many years. He belonged to the Elks Lodge BPOE No. 580 of Millville. He was an avid sports spectator; he enjoyed attending athletic events as well as watching games on television. He also enjoyed buying lottery tickets.
He is survived by his wife Beth (Peterson) Haas; one brother William Haas and wife Dorrie of Millville; a nephew Billy Haas and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents James A. "Bud" and Mildred (Whildin) Haas, Jr.
