James J. Scacco, Sr., 86, of Millville, passed away on August 7, 2014 at Inspira Medical Center after a brief illness. James was born in Hartford, CT to the late Michael and Annie (Vacira) Scacco and was raised in Brooklyn, NY. James had been a resident of Millville since 1975. James served in the Merchant Marines and then served as a Sgt. in the US Army during the Korean War.
James was a retired tool & die maker for over 40 years, working several different companies, the last being Struthers & Dunn Manufacturing Co. in Pitman. He was a long time parishioner of the Parish of All Saints (St. Mary's). James was an avid NY Yankees and Giants fan. He also enjoyed riding his bike on the Ocean City boardwalk, but most of all, he loved spending time and barbequing with his family and friends.
James was predeceased by his wife Eileen (Finegan). He is survived by 3 sons: Paul of East Windsor, James, Jr (Patti) of Lumberton and Robert (Kim) of Millville: daughter: Kelly Riley (Doug) of Rosenhayn; grandson: Zachary Riley and 3 granddaughters: Alyson Scacco, Sydney Riley and Nicole Scacco and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 in The Parish of All Saints (St. Mary's) at 10 AM. Viewings will be held on Monday evening, 6- 8 PM and Tuesday, 8:30-9:30 in the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
