Paul Barlam, 88, passed away peacefully in Wilmington, Del., on Monday, March 4, 2013.

He was raised in Cedarville, where he was predeceased by his parents, Domenick and Florence Barlam; brother, Albert, James; and sister Beatrice LaPalombara. Paul also was predeceased by his wives, Marge Bryson and Alice Liss. He is survived by his brother, Carmen (Alice) Barlam; Mary (Rocco) DelCollo; daughter, Linda (George) Middleton; stepson, Bill (Joanne) Liss, Greg (Jane) Liss; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul served his country proudly during World War II in the European theater, where he was awarded a Purple Heart after being injured in an enemy firefight. He was proud of his service and country and spoke of it often. Paul was a lifetime member of the Central Baptist Church in Millville, where he resided for more than 60 years. Paul really enjoyed monthly family dinners with his siblings, surviving aunts and uncles. Paul was a gentle and kind man. He will be missed by all those he touched. He is gone but will never be forgotten.

Services will be held on Friday at the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home of Millville at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where he will be interred with his late wife Marge. Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 until 11 a.m.

Linda and family request, in lieu of flowers, that a donation in Paul's name be made to Heartland Hospice Care, 5661 Ocheltree Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
