Ralph W. McCormick, 85, of Vineland and formerly of Malaga, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013, in the South Jersey Healthcare HospiceCare Inpatient Care Center in Bridgeton.
Mr. McCormick was born in Camden, raised in Egg Harbor and was a longtime resident of Malaga prior to moving to Florida, where he resided until returning to Vineland in 2002. He was the son of the late Josephine (Gretsky) and William S. McCormick, and the husband of the late Gloria N. McCormick (Young), who died in 2010. Before retiring in 1983 with 33 years of service with the railroad, Ralph was employed as a Signalman for the Penna-Reading-Seashore R.R. prior to the merger into Conrail. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He also was a member of the Malaga Vol Fire Company and a N.J. State Exempt fireman. Ralph obtained his private pilot's license in 1950 and enjoyed taking his family and friends up flying. He also was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed going camping.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and husband Jay Braidi of East Vineland; three sons, William "Bill," Keith and Glenn McCormick, all of Malaga; five grandchildren, John W., Smantha L. and Leah V. Braidi, Amanda and Glenn McCormick Jr.; two brothers, George and William Kendall; two sisters, Dolores "Honey" Grant and Marie Rodgers; brother-in-law, Sidney Young of Malaga; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, where his funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Burial will be private in the Malaga Methodist Cemetery, Malaga.
