Stephen Joseph Chopek III, 64, of Port Orange passed away peacefully on Saturday, June, 22, 2013.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. today at Lohman Funeral Home, Port Orange. The family will receive friends for a gathering 30 minutes prior to the service.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Rocap Shannon Funeral Home in Millville, 24 N. 2nd St.
He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
Stephen was born on Aug. 19, 1948, in Millville to the late Edna (Tozer) and John W. Chopek. Stephen served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and received a Purple Heart for his faithful service. He received his bachelor's degree from University of Central Florida in 2006.
Locally Stephen own and operated C&O Construction in Port Orange area for many years. He was a member of the South Daytona Lions Club, DAV, and Honey Pots Men's Golf League. He loved spending time with this family, especially his grandchildren, golf, and restoring classic cars.
Survivors include his wife Carol D. Orrell-Chopek; son, Stephen J. (Leah) Chopek IV; daughter, Stephanie H. Chopek, stepdaughter, Julie Ann Hutchinson; stepson, Brent Robert Orrell; grandchildren, Stephen, Noah, Nathan, Skylar; and step-grandchildren, Faith Izabelle, Macie Eden and Austen Michael. He also leaves behind many extended family members and close friends.
