Keith Monro, 52, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., formerly of Troy, Pa., passed away on Friday May 23, 2014 at Calvary Hospital, Bronx, N.Y.

Born in Sayre, Pa., on Oct. 20, 1961, Keith Lyle was a son of Lyle and Linda (Tillinghast) Monro. He was a 1979 graduate of Troy High School and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Logistics and Agro-Business from Penn State University. He was employed for 21 years with NYSCO of the Bronx.

Keith's motto that guided him through life was, "It's just the right thing to do." He will be remembered for his love for family and work. Keith would do anything he possibly could for family, especially nieces and nephews; his friends at work were his family too. He enjoyed helping people and taught several to read and write. Keith was an avid traveler and saw much of the world. A favorite destination was Porta Viarta, Mexico. He also loved and collected all types of music and enjoyed photography.

Surviving are his parents, Lyle and Linda of Columbia Cross Roads, four siblings Andrew (Kathy) Monro of Columbia Cross Roads, LeeAnne Monro of Jupiter, Fla., Brian (Dayna) Monro of Succasunna, N.J. and Angela (Timothy) Bowers of Milton, seven special nieces and nephews, two great-nephews, many cousins and a dear friend, Anthony Peterson of Mount Vernon. Keith also leaves two cats who were like children, "Bear" and "Little."

The family will receive friends from 11 – 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr., Canton. Pastor Richard Noggle will officiate the funeral service at noon.
