Vero Beach, Fla. - Barbara P. Harreys, 73, passed away on April 4, 2013, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, Fla.

She is survived by her husband, John Harreys and son, Douglas Harreys of Ivoryton.
Barbara was a graduate of the Dana Hall School. She attended Mary Washington College and graduated with a finance major from Penn State University. She worked on Wall Street for Bank of New York, Irving Trust Co., and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
After marrying John, the couple moved to Connecticut where Barbara became active in community affairs. She served on the board of directors of Child and Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut for a number of years. She was also president of the Essex Auxiliary of Child & Family Agency.
Barbara and John were avid yachtsmen having cruised and raced sailboats. In later life, they cruised their trawler "Boss Lady" between Essex and Vero Beach. Barbara was a member of the Essex Yacht Club, The Moorings Club, and the Moorings Yacht Club where she served on the board of directors.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at the Essex Yacht Club this summer and at the Moorings next fall.
