Mystic - Frederick "Ken" Wydler of Mystic, born June 29, 1930, passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013.

Ken was the beloved husband of 56 years to Muriel "Kitty" (Beebe) Wydler. He was born in Old Mystic, the son of Fred and Nellie (Pavelski) Wydler. He lived his life in Mystic, attending Mystic Academy, Robert E. Fitch High School, and UCONN. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force before joining the U.S. Coast Guard Band, where he had the honor of performing in both the Inauguration Ceremony and Funeral Procession of U.S. President John F. Kennedy Jr., and many other events of the state before retiring after 16 years of service in 1971. Ken worked as a senior designer at Electric Boat until his retirement.
Ken's primary focus was his family. His favorite times were spent with them, sharing meals and storytelling. He had a great love for music and enjoyed serving his church. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons. Ken was passionate about life, and shared that with everyone he came into contact with. He will be most remembered for his funny antidotes, sense of humor, and his smile.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind daughters, Victoria (Wydler) Brouillard and her husband, Roland, Jennifer Bacchiocchi and her husband, Aldo John; and his grandchildren, Max and Alex Bacchiocchi. He leaves behind a brother, Robert D. Wydler his wife, Jini Wydler; and a sister-in-law, Mariane Wydler; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, William Kurt Wydler; and his brother, James A. Wydler.
Burial will be private, followed by a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Groton Bible Chapel.
